We Hear a Lot. But Do We Listen?
In a world full of noise, many of us have mastered the art of filtering – scrolling past, tuning out, bracing ourselves. But what happens when that filtering becomes a form of self-protection that disconnects us from truth, from others, and from ourselves?
Episode 8 of I’m Power-Meant invites you to explore the difference between hearing and listening. Between being in the room and being present. This session is a soft reckoning with the habits that keep us from connection and a space to practise something deeper.
When Silence Becomes Survival
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, for Black, Brown, and Mixed Heritage Women, silence is more than quiet.
It’s strategy. It’s safety. It’s history. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of saying nothing, when really we’re feeling it all.
Many of us learned to mute our emotions, read between the lines, or retreat into roles that demand less of us but give even less in return. If you join us on 24 July, I promise that we’ll name those patterns and gently begin to change them.
You’ll leave with the knowledge and strength to:
🎧 Deepen your listening without losing yourself
💬 Interrupt assumptions in conversation
🌿 Build relationships that heal, not drain
🛑 Honour your “no” without guilt
Men Will Be Guesting – By Invitation, Not Invasion
Episode 8 includes a select number of male guests, not to take space, but to witness and participate in mutual growth.
It’s part of the healing work: to practise being heard in the presence of those who have often been unheard themselves.
Sometimes transformation happens not just in our own voice but in being truly listened to.
