If you’re going to go through your entire life being identified by someone else or another system, if you’re going to be given a name by someone else or another system, schooled by someone else or another system, and then you look at the evidence of where you are located within the others’ idea of who you are and you see that you’re at the bottom, you have to question that.

How come I can’t be viewed as the notion of beauty?

How come the idea of Christ is that they’re white and blonde and blue-eyed?

Where do I fit in the picture?

If you continue to locate yourself through the lens of someone else, you’re always going to be second. You’re never going to ever be able to see yourself according to your perspective.

Therefore, you have to remove those shackles.

You have to say, okay, you’ve done this for long enough.

You’ve named me for long enough.

You’ve positioned me for long enough.

I wonder what would happen if I started to use my own Divinely bestowed gifts, my own Divinely bestowed characteristics, if I began to explore why it is and how it is that despite the oppression, the marginalisation, I still have the capacity to create, to love, to grow, to form relationships, to survive within this hostile climate.

How transformational would that be?

Embracing Your Authentic Self

Embracing your authentic self begins with self-awareness and self-acceptance. It’s crucial to understand that your value does not depend on someone else’s perception. You are not defined by the labels and limitations imposed by others. By embracing your uniqueness and celebrating your heritage, you can start to see yourself in a new light, one that is not dimmed by external judgments.

A therapist and life coach can be instrumental in this journey. They can provide the tools and support needed to unlearn harmful beliefs and build a positive self-image. A therapist can help you process past traumas and understand how external perceptions have shaped your self-view, while a life coach can guide you in setting goals that align with your true self and help you achieve them.

Transforming Through Self-Discovery

Self-discovery is a powerful process that involves exploring your strengths, passions, and values. It’s about asking yourself who you are beyond the societal labels and expectations. This journey can be challenging but incredibly rewarding, as it leads to a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Engaging with a therapist and life coach can facilitate this process. They can help you navigate the complexities of your identity, providing a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings. This support can be transformative, enabling you to break free from the constraints of external validation and embrace your inherent worth.

Embracing professional support ensures you have the tools and guidance necessary to live authentically and confidently.
