Allyship isn’t about showing up when it’s easy. It’s about showing up when it matters.

Maybe you’ve seen it.

・ The colleague who gets interrupted in meetings, again and again.

・ The job candidate who wasn’t ‘a culture fit’ but had all the qualifications.

・ The ‘diversity initiative’ that never quite made it past the planning stage.

・ Or maybe you’ve felt the discomfort of not knowing what to say, how to help, or where to start.

This is that moment.

I’m Power-Meant is an exclusive space for Black, Brown, and Mixed Heritage Women, but if you’re reading this, you have a role to play too.

Allyship Isn’t Performative. It’s a Daily Commitment.

Being an Ally isn’t about ‘helping’ – it’s about recognising, listening, and actively challenging what you see.

✅ Do you notice who gets talked over in meetings?

✅ Do you call out the pay gaps, the hiring bias, the double standards?

✅ Do you question why “diversity” is always discussed, but never actioned?

It’s easy to share a post during Black History Month. It’s harder to risk discomfort when it’s happening in real-time.

What You Can Do Now

Here are four things you can do right now!

Educate Yourself Without Expecting Labour – The burden of explaining racism, bias, and exclusion should never fall on those experiencing it. Seek out books, resources, and organisations doing this work.

Challenge, Even When It’s Inconvenient – It’s not just about “calling out” but calling in those around you. If a policy, a joke, or a hiring decision feels off – say something.

Make Space and Pass the Mic – Who is being heard? Who is always overlooked? Amplify the voices that need to be in the room without speaking over them.

Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is – Support, sponsor, and invest in programmes, initiatives, and Women of Black, Brown, and Mixed Heritage backgrounds. If you have a platform, use it.

Real Allyship Is About Action, Not Awareness!

This nine-part series runs every two weeks from Thursday, 20 March 2025, at 7 PM GMT. You might not be able to join I’m Power-Meant, but you can still be part of the change.

Here’s what you can do:

💡 Sponsor a Woman who should be in this space.

🔁 Share this with someone who needs to see it.

💬 Drop a comment if you consider yourself an Ally – and tell me what Allyship means to you.

This work doesn’t end when the conversation stops. Keep showing up. Keep doing the work.
