How many times have you swallowed your words?

The moment you wanted to call something out, but didn’t. The meeting where you had the idea first, but let someone else say it. The time you needed help, but didn’t want to seem weak.

For Black, Brown, and Mixed Heritage Women, silence isn’t just about words, it’s about survival. We learn early that speaking up comes with risks.

💭 The risk of being labelled “difficult” or “angry.”

💭 The risk of being overlooked, dismissed, or ignored.

💭 The risk of pushing back—and paying the price.

So we adapt. We let things slide. We choose our battles. We stay silent. Not because we don’t see it. Not because we don’t feel it. But because we’re tired.

But What Does That Silence Cost?

🛑 The discomfort you protect others from at the expense of yourself.

🛑 The opportunities you never took because you weren’t ‘sure.’

🛑 The times you made yourself small to avoid conflict.

The cost of silence is high. And the truth is….. it never actually keeps us safe.

I’m Power-Meant Is Where We Speak.

👉🏾 A space where your voice is not a threat.

👉🏾 A space where you don’t have to water yourself down to be heard.

👉🏾 A space where taking up space isn’t an act of defiance because it’s your birthright.

Because we are done paying the price for other people’s comfort.

Your Voice Deserves to Be Heard.

This nine-part series runs every two weeks from Thursday, 20 March 2025, at 7 PM GMT. Not because we need permission to speak, but because we finally choose to!
