I think that nature can teach us a lot if we pay attention to it. Pay less attention to the TV, the internet, the newspapers, gossip, and what someone said about us when we were children, or what our neighbour thinks, or what an ex said.

We should pay some attention to nature. The thing about nature is that it stays in its lane. Nature doesn’t try to be something that it’s not. It doesn’t try to be technology or artificial intelligence. It doesn’t try to be anything but nature.

The Ocean’s Lesson

Let’s take the ocean as an example. It is alive, and its business is to be an ocean. It rushes to the shore, then it rushes away. Then it rushes back to the shore, then it rushes away again. Sometimes the water goes right out, but it continues to be an ocean. It doesn’t try to be a tree, the sand, or the road. So when you look at the ocean, it’s really happy. And it makes people happy because it’s not trying to be what it’s not. It’s an ocean.

Being True to Yourself

In today’s society, it’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to be someone you’re not. Social media, advertising, and peer pressure can all contribute to an unhealthy desire to conform to societal norms and expectations. However, trying to be someone you’re not can lead to feelings of dissatisfaction, anxiety, and a lack of fulfilment. It’s important to embrace your true self and stop trying so hard to be someone you’re not.

Why Do We Try to Be Someone We’re Not

There are several reasons why we may try to be someone we’re not. One reason is that we want to fit in and be accepted by others. We may believe that if we conform to societal norms and expectations, we will be more likeable and successful. Another reason is that we may be insecure about our true selves and feel that we need to present a different image to be liked and respected. Finally, we may be influenced by social media and advertising, which often present an idealised version of what we should look like or how we should behave.

The Dangers of Trying to Be Someone You’re Not

Trying to be someone you’re not can have negative consequences for your mental health and well-being. It can prevent you from forming genuine connections with others, as you may be presenting a false image of yourself. Additionally, trying to be someone you’re not can be exhausting and unsustainable in the long run, leading to burnout and a sense of disconnection from your true self.

Embracing Your True Self

To stop trying so hard to be someone you’re not, it’s important to embrace your true self. This means accepting your strengths and weaknesses, being honest about your likes and dislikes, and being comfortable in your own skin. It’s also important to surround yourself with supportive people who accept you for who you are. By embracing your true self, you can find greater happiness, fulfilment, and peace of mind. Remember, you are unique and valuable just as you are, and there is no need to try to be someone you’re not.
